In the first newsletter, we already made the announcement and now they’re online: the first 2 unique car puzzle routes through our beautiful Groningen! Happily and passionately developed by the LocalGroningen team, and realized in collaboration with various LocalGroningen.nl participants.
And there’s more: this week we also celebrate the opening of Lekker-op-Afstand: the takeaway location for delicious regional meals, fresh packages, and Christmas packages. Read on to learn more about all this.
Successful collaboration between LocalGroningen.nl participants
What’s more fun than organizing a corona-proof getaway for neighbors, tourists, and country people so that they can (re)discover our beautiful province while solving puzzles?
The development of the car puzzle routes has led to an intensive and fruitful collaboration between colleague entrepreneurs in the region. And that’s exactly what LocalGroningen.nl is develop for: collaboration geared toward strengthening one another.
Together we searched the region for the right starting and ending locations, thought out the routes between them, created the lunch- and diner boxes from regional ingredients, and filled the Goodiebag with our local products. Simply amazing!
Unique car puzzle routes
The first routes that are now online circle through the Groningen municipalities Het Hogeland and Zuidelijk Westerkwartier. During the trip, there’ll be puzzles to solve, questions about (historical) sights, beautiful natural reserves to walk through, and unusual places to visit. For the children on the backseat there’s a bingo with special bingo cards and photos of the route.
Upon finishing the route, you can hand in your answer sheet to participate in the raffle of our awesome local prizes. Finally, every booking comes with a richly filled goodie bag to take home with you!

New routes
We’ve gotten the hang of it now, and there are many more beautiful places in Groningen and Friesland to explore while solving puzzles along the route. Catering in corona time during the car puzzle routes
In the development of the routes, we have kept the corona regulations in mind. As long as access to horeca facilities is (partly) denied, we offer the possibility to order a lunch and/or dinner box along with your booking. When and wherever possible, we’ll include horeca facilities in the routes so that you can stop for refreshing drinks and delicious meals along your journey. Upon booking your car puzzle route, you can choose 3 options:
- The route package, complete with questions, puzzles, route description, and information about the region that your driving in.
- The route package including lunch box.
- The route package including lunch box and a 2-course dinner box or a 3-course dinner fresh package.
Lekker-op-afstand
The dinner box and dinner fresh package is supplied by Lekker-op-afstand. This is an initiative of Abrahams Mostermakerij, LocalGroningen.nl and various restaurants and producers from the region of Het Hogeland. Lekker-op-afstand is a takeaway location for delicious regional meals, fresh packages, and Christmas packages.
