Historie
After the liberation from WW2, people in Grijpskerk soon wanted to erect a war memorial. The monument was unveiled on 4 May 1950 by Mrs H.R. Kalk, widow of the town clerk Hendrik Renze Kalk, who was shot dead during the war. Behind the belfry are the graves of a number of resistance fighters.
