The bright yellow church tower stands out from afar. This 19th-century church is the replacement of a medieval church that went up in flames in 1247, and a late Gothic tower that fell in 1815. The church tower can be climbed and once you reach the top, you have a beautiful view of the Wad and, in the near distance, Schiermonnikoog. Especially in the past, but also today, the church's domed lantern tower is a beacon for shipping on the Wadden Sea. In the 21st century, the church is Hornhuizen's village hall and wedding and mourning venue. There are also exhibitions
