Historie
At the Fishing Museum Zoutkamp, you come for the smell of fish, tar, wood and diesel. This old inner harbour is home to the Fisheries Museum Zoutkamp, in the former, monumental 'betonningsloods' of Rijkswaterstaat. The old iron lifting crane on the harbour quay and the rails over which the 'barrels' could be driven in on trolleys for maintenance are still the silent witnesses. In this characteristic, historic building, you can discover much more information about the history and development of Zoutkamp, about fishing, about the closure of the Lauwersmeer. The Fisheries Museum also organises special boating arrangements in the Lauwersmeer area and across the Wadden Sea. A unique place for a unique experience!
