Oud Bokum and Nieuw Bocum. The farms have a long history dating back to the early Middle Ages. A 'stone house' stood here as early as the 15th century. Sometime in the 16th century, a dike was built around it. Unfortunately, the great Christmas flood of 1717 swallowed up both dike and house. After construction of the new dike in 1718, a new farm was built first and later the second: Oud Bokum and Nieuw Bocum (the 'c' and 'k' are officially recorded). Bokum is not only known for its national monument status for the two farms. In 2015, the new, large potato barn was built, with which Nieuw Bocum even made the national press.
