Het Veerste Veldhuis is a next esgehucht, with a few farmsteads, one of which has the name 't Veerste Veldhuis. The farm was already occupied by one Velthuis in 1650. The farm is now known as an organic farm where a French breed of cows is kept. On the adjacent Ter Walslage nature reserve, the cows graze with their calves from spring to autumn. The meat is sold at home and in various regional shops and markets in Westerwolde
