The Green Gate was created as a work of art to raise awareness of the energy transition, and to mark the 40th anniversary of Eemshaven. The Green Gate is now a contemplative monument. In the middle of the viewing platform, you can look at the harbour basins, the ships, cranes and industrial buildings, the storage of wind turbine parts, the energy companies, etc. On the other side, you have a view of the green hinterland, the fertile sea clay, where farmers ran their businesses for centuries. On the horizon is the Wadden Sea - nature reserve of world renown - UNESCO World Heritage Site.
