Not to be missed: right along the road stands the loose steeple of St Stephen's Church. The original cruciform church dates from 1275, a number of characteristic elements are still visible. That the tower is loose has a number of reasons. As a result of several floods from the Dollard, the church was moved several times to higher ground. It was discovered that the tower was actually too heavy to be placed directly against the church. That would cause cracks, moreover, the church bells caused extra vibrations.
Currently, the church tower also has a practical function. The local fire brigade uses the tower to dry fire hoses.
