Historie
The hamlet of Westerhorn is a special place because of its four lakes or kolken. The name comes from Westerhorn farm, which was also called De Kolken in the past. De Kolken refers to the four kolken located here. They are remnants of dike breaches caused by major floods. The largest and most northeastern kolk is located east of farm Westerhorn and has an area of 1.5 hectares and is about 10 metres deep!
